What are dental crowns?

Individual teeth that have suffered significant decay or damage can generally be repaired using a crown restoration. Our patient-centered facility in New York, NY provides these dental restorations to patients to protect and cover the visible area of a tooth while also recovering its shape and size. Dental crowns are customized to blend seamlessly with existing teeth and are oftentimes utilized to address broken teeth, dental cavities, misshapen teeth, and other forms of tooth damage. Crowns may also be fused into an appliance to serve as a bridge or attached to single implants to treat teeth that are missing. Reserve a visit with our dental experts at Madison Avenue Dentists to find out if a customized dental crown can restore the health and appearance of your smile.

How do you know when you need a crown?

Individuals might benefit from having a dental crown placed to address several oral health issues and reestablish proper function and aesthetics for a tooth. Some of the more prevalent reasons for needing a crown are:

  • Teeth that have cracks or fractures
  • Severely worn or eroded teeth
  • Odd-shaped or deeply stained teeth
  • Teeth that have moderate decay
  • Replacement of large fillings
  • Teeth treated with a root canal
  • To complete a dental bridge
  • Completion of individual dental implants

At Madison Avenue Dentists, custom crowns can be used for the front or back teeth and might be made from all-ceramic or other natural-looking materials, porcelain fused to metal, or a high-noble metal (like gold). Our experienced dental experts in New York, NY can assess your tooth and help you decide upon the best type of dental crown procedure for your personal oral needs and aesthetic desires.

Dr Estafan did a superb job on giving me two new shiny crowns on a couple of back teeth that were bothering me last month. He also reworked an old filling that now looks fantastic. He is interesting company and seems to be very meticulous in his dental work. I can't recommend him highly enough.

These guys (mostly gals) are true professionals. Dr Oh placed an implant flawlessly and Dr Estafan has been taking care of my porcelain veneers & crowns for years. I get compliments on a regular basis thanks to his work. Wendy and Claudia are a true pleasure to see at the office and Angela has hands of gold. I highly recommend this gifted team to anyone for cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, prosthodontics or general dentistry.

Our family considers ourselves very lucky to have found Dr. Oh's and Dr. Estafan's dental practice a few years ago. Between the three of us (2 adults and a teenage kid), we had experienced the entire range of dental treatments from basic preventative procedures to root canals, crowns, bridges, multiple implants (which in my case required bone grafting). And we cannot be more satisfied! The appointments are easy to set up, waiting time is either nonexistent or reasonable, the procedures are as gentle and painless as they can possibly be. And both doctors are terrific, kind, patient and gentle human beings! If you are looking for a great dental care, no matter how difficult your case might be, you won't find a better practice!
